Laser Welding
There are three areas that distinguish laser welding over the other two techniques. First, the heat applied is non-contact therefore produce clean process, which minimizes contamination of the weld joint. It also elimintes the necessity to apply contact pressure to the joint. Second, the heat applied to the object is localized and produce minimum Heat Affected Zone (HAZ). The duration of the heat pulse is controlled based on the required penetration depth of the process, and a uniform intensity distribution is achieved with fiber optic beam delivery. Third, laser welding process can be precisely controlled and lends itself readily to automation of the manufacturing process. Metals with low thermal conductivity as well as low optical reflectivity. Most alloys fall within this category, such as stainless steel, platinum alloys, Kovar, Berillium Copper, Nitinol, and Titanium. UGAM has successfully performed sample welds of these metals.

The technological advantage of Laser cutting is, above all, precise, clean and silent. The beam can be focalized on an extremely small area (from 0.1 to 1mm in diameter). The area in proximity to the cut edge has a very low heat alteration. The laser is a non-contact instrument that guarantees: total absence of mechanical pressure on the piece; absence of wear in the instrument; cutting capability independent of hardness of the material; capability of cutting coated or surface treated materials. Laser cutting also has a high degree of automation and flexibility able to offer: ease of integration with other automated systems; very high trimming capability; capability of adapting immediately to changes in production requirements. In many cases, laser cutting can produce finished pieces that do not require further processing (polishing, de-burring, finishing etc.).
Part Tracibility
Some time tracing the manufacturing date and batch number is too important for manufacturer, The laser technology is too helpfull for manufacturer of metal components and plastic components. Laser can print barcode or serial number on object which manufacturer can read by barcode scanner and trace the manufacturing date and batch number. This is a non-contact application so its too easy for any type of components.
Diamond Bruiting
Diamond manufacturer also need laser for second process on diamond and its diamond bruiting. Before use laser technology, manufacturer used old method to do bruiting. The process was manual so manufacturer needs so many workers to do it. And they can not get production.
